This isn't my first encounter with the vundo or virtumond viri. They are both just as mischievous and malicious as each other. They spread like rabbits by copying itself to any file it finds and will continue on from the newly infected and the original. The worse side of it is if it can't write to the file, it will corrupt it! Also, these two viri manifest some pretty peculiar problems much like the I encountered above. There really is no threat to these two types unless you like to download software from the ad filled shady looking sites that people still seem to get suckered in by.
Know wh your downloading before you download it and always use avast or kaspersky!!

Error:

Here's the small save dump I received from a blue screen error.

Event Type: Information
Event Source: Save Dump
Event Category: None
Event ID: 1001
Date: 01/09/2009
Time: 8:35:44 PM
User: N/A
Computer: ARUCARD
Description:
The computer has rebooted from a bugcheck. The bugcheck was: 0x10000050 (0xbffffff8, 0x00000000, 0x80543e9d, 0x00000002). A dump was saved in: C:\WINDOWS\Minidump\Mini090109-09.dmp.

I also started receiving errors of recovering the registry from corruption upon rebooting.

Solution:

I found that after process of elimination, it was the drivers and a corruption of their entry in the registry. I reinstalled the drivers for my video cards and no I have no problems... cross my fingers.

My Rig

Just for reference and comparison for others also troubleshooting, I run an Asus A8N-SLi motherboard with dual XFX 8600GTS SLi cards, 1 Seagate Caviar NCQ Sata hard drive, 1 Samsung Super Write Master DVD/CD-ROM RW optical drive, 2x1GB Mushkin Enhanced HP 3200 DDR RAM, 1 10/100/1000MB Dlink PCI Ethernet adapter and an AMD Athlon 64 3200+ CPU all in an Antec Sonatta III case with an Earthwatts EA-500D 500W.

Hello World!

First things first. This is absolutely a boring blog. There's no fascinating aspect about this unless you find humor in other peoples tribulations. This blog is merely a record of my past encounters with errors from all areas of my electronic entangled life. This would include my PC, DSLite, Xbox (both one and 360), laptop, network, blackberry, Canon XSi ...... you get the picture. Feel free to post comments and questions (or even corrections!) but I can't say I will answer all of them since I only have limited time on my hands. So onto the hair pulling and headaches of an e-Era life.
